Drawing on his extensive history in Arizona’s soccer community, Greg Johnson has established himself as a prominent figure in both collegiate and high school athletics. He currently serves as the Head Men’s and Women’s Soccer Coach at GateWay Community College, where he holds the distinction of being the only head coach in the program's history. Under his guidance, the Geckos have successfully transitioned over 50 student-athletes to four-year institutions.
Johnson’s legacy is equally defined by his record-breaking tenures at the high school level. At Basha High School over a 12-year career (2010–2022), he became the all-time winningest coach for the Bears. His tenure was highlighted by earning the 2014 AIA Division 1 Coach of the Year award. At Dobson High School during his decade in Mesa (2000–2010), he solidified his status as the all-time winningest coach in the history of the Mustangs' soccer program.
In addition to his head coaching roles, Johnson’s experience includes winning two Southland Conference Championships as an assistant coach at Stephen F. Austin State University. A Chandler native, he holds a Master of Education in Kinesiology and a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management, as well as foundational credentials that support his long-standing commitment to player development and academic success.
