Fernando Perez brings over a decade of experience as both a collegiate player and a dedicated goalkeeper coach. Since 2018, he has served as the Varsity Assistant and Goalkeeper Coach for Arizona College Preparatory, helping guide the girls’ soccer program to its first-ever playoff appearance. In 2023, he joined Arizona Arsenal SC, where he develops goalkeepers across boys’ and girls’ teams ages 10 to 18, focusing on modern training methods, tactical awareness, and mastery of fundamentals.
A former standout goalkeeper at Calumet College of St. Joseph, Perez competed in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference, finishing in the top three for saves during the 2012–2013 season. Prior to Calumet College, Fernando was a goal keeper at GateWay from 2009-2011. Following his redshirt season Perez competed in 16 games including 8 starts for the Geckos. He finished his time at GateWay with 87 saves and a 69% save percentage. His background as a student-athlete and leader on the field informs his approach to coaching, emphasizing confidence, communication, and continuous improvement.
Perez holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Business Management from Calumet College of St. Joseph and is known for his disciplined, player-first philosophy that prepares goalkeepers for success at the next level.
