Five Alumni Receive Conference Recognitions

Five GateWay athletics alumni were recognized during the 2025-2026 athletic seasons at their respective four year schools.

Micky Scheetz, a 2023 GateWay baseball alumni, received multiple recognitions for his incredible senior season at University of West Florida. Scheetz was selected to the NCAA D2 First Team All-American, as well as First Team All-South Region and First Team All-Gulf South Conference. Micky earned the closer roll for the Argonauts, pitching 47 innings with 3 wins and a 16 saves breaking the single season save record for the school and placing second for career saves in just one season. Scheetz had an ERA of 1.53 for the year with 46 strikeouts and just eight earned runs. Prior to his time at West Florida Micky played at Sam Houston State University.

Diego Trujillo was also a 2023 GateWay Baseball Alumni. Trujillo was selected to the NCAA Summit League Honorable Mention Team for his performance this season at North Dakota State University. Diego finished the season with a .266 batting average with 34 hits, 12 extra base hits, 23 runs, and 22 RBIs. Prior to North Dakota State Diego was a standout player at Briar Cliff University for two seasons.

Wyatt Bauer is a 2024 GateWay Baseball alumni. Bauer earned Second Team All-Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference for his senior season at Tabor College. Wyatt started on the mound for the Bluejays finishing the year with 76.2 innings pitched, 65 strikeouts, and 7 wins.

Raenan Padilla is also a 2024 GateWay baseball Alumni. Padilla was selected for the NAIA Great Plains Gold Glove team for his performance this year at Briar Cliff University. Raenan spent a majority of his senior season at third base. He finished the year with a .948 fielding percentage, he had 116 total chances, 81 assists, and 29 putouts.

2024 GateWay Softball Alumni, Leticia Herrera earned the NAIA Frontier Conference Champion of Character Award for the 2026 season. Her current Head Coach Jordan Olson's stated: "Leti consistently demonstrates what it means to be a Champion of Character through the way she embodies being a great teammate. She shows integrity, respect, and leadership both on and off the field. Whether in the dugout or on the field, she is always one of her teammates' biggest supporters, bringing positive energy while doing things the right way and leading by example."

Congratulations to all of our alumni for their hard work both on and off the field this year. In addition to the student athletes listed above we also had many student athletes elected to NAIA Academic Teams and NCAA Academic All-Americans, as well as many athletes graduating with their four year degree. We couldn't be more proud of your hard work and how you continue to represent GateWay Athletics.
