Pima Unable to Overcome GateWay's Late-Game Surge

The Geckos snatched the lead late in their 2-1 victory over Pima College Aztecs on Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader. The game was tied at one in the top of the sixth when Skinner hit a solo home run to left field. GateWay got on the board in the second inning after Warman singled, scoring one run. Kruk singled to left field on an 0-2 count, which helped Pima tie the game at one in the bottom of the third.
 
Both teams were strong on the mound. GateWay's struck out seven, while Pima sat down four. Loria earned the win for the Geckos. The starting pitcher gave up eight hits and one run over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one. Hall led things off on the hill for the Aztecs. The pitcher allowed three hits and one run over five innings, striking out three and walking four. 
 
Skinner and Warman were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for GateWay. Meister, Skinner, Lacelle, and Warman each collected one hit for GateWay. Mallee stole two bases. 
 

Geckos Defeat  Aztecs on Multiple Hit Performance by Bartle

Bartle collected three hits in four at bats, as GateWay defeated Pima 8-7 on Saturday in game two of the doubleheader. Bartle doubled in the first inning, singled in the seventh and ninth innings. GateWay jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Mallee singled, scoring one run, Bartle doubled, scoring two runs, and Solinsky singled, scoring one run. The Geckos collected 12 hits in the game. Solinsky, Barnard, and Maize each collected multiple hits. Maize stole two bases. GateWay turned one double play in the game.
 
Anguiano earned the win for GateWay. The starting pitcher surrendered eight hits and four runs (three earned) over five innings, striking out one and walking three. Fitak led things off on the bump for Pima. The pitcher surrendered eight hits and six runs over four and one-third innings, striking out five and walking one. Sluiter collected the save. Hogan appeared in relief for the Geckos.
