Micah Bartle collected three hits in three at bats, as the GateWay Geckos defeated Arizona Christian University 10-2 on Monday at ACU. Bartle singled in the first inning, doubled in the third inning, and singled in the seventh inning. The Geckos won thanks in part to six runs in the first inning. Ryleb Renton drew a walk, scoring one run, Max Henry singled, scoring one run, Tanner Solinsky singled, scoring one run, Bartle singled, scoring two runs, and a passed ball scored one run.
Blake Wilson started on the mound for GateWay. He gave up four hits and one run over three innings, striking out four and walking two. McGilvary stepped on the mound first for ACU whom allowed four hits and six runs (five earned) over one-third of an inning, striking out none and walking two. Michael Hogan, Sammy Fredrich, and Ryan Foley each threw scoreless innings for Geckos in relief.
GateWay accumulated 10 hits in the game. Austin Mallee collected two hits for the Geckos in three at bats. The team had patience at the plate, accumulating 10 walks for the game. Bartle and Chuck Meister led the team with two walks each. Bartle and Mallee each stole multiple bases for GateWay. The Geckos ran wild on the base paths, amassing six stolen bases for the game. The defense also turned three double plays in the game.
